Introduction

All Lumen EMEA Wavelength customers will transfer to the Colt converged Wave service. Colt Wave Services provide high-capacity data transport services between two locations. They are available on a Metro, National or International basis.

Colt owns and operates fully managed and integrated metropolitan and long-distance networks, based on fibre-optic infrastructure, which facilitate secure, high-bandwidth Dense Wavelength Division Mutliplexing (DWDM) connections across the network.

Intercontinental services, global locations in North America and international services in the Asia Pacific region are served using leased wavelength capacity in combination with Colt’s own optical infrastructure.

The Colt Private Wave Service is a metropolitan area service that utilises a dedicated WDM (Wave Division Multiplexing) platform to deliver multiple services or service types over a single fibre pair on customer-dedicated infrastructure.

As you know, on the 1st November, 2024 we acquired Lumen EMEA. Since then, we have been working hard on our plans to integrate our businesses and we are now in the position to give you the latest information.

2. What does this mean for you?

All new Wave services will be delivered on the Colt IQNet infrastructure (a combination of the Lumen EMEA and Colt network).

Existing Lumen EMEA Wavelength services will continue to operate on the current network platforms and will be managed by Colt IT systems.

There will be no service disruption or downtime during this convergence, the process to manage your services and your interaction will be different.

3. Lumen EMEA mapping to converged product

The below provides guidance for the mapping of a Lumen Wavelength service into a Colt Wave service. In Lumen EMEA, an encrypted wavelength was a standalone product. Encryption is a feature that can be associated to any Colt Wave or Colt Private Wave.

4. What is different about the converged Wave product?

There are no significant changes in service featues - the biggest one being the product name.

Geographic Extensions

The geographic extensions are the same for the converged product as they were with Lumen EMEA:

  • Metro - within same city or region / Wave or Private Wave
  • National - within same country between different cities / typically Wave only
  • International - across different countries or even continents / typically Wave only

Footprint

Colt offers Wave services across Europe, Asia-Pacific, including Subsea-routes to North America

  • Lisbon, Porto, Rome and a few more across Europe
  • Japan national network connecting Tokyo to Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and other major cities. Metro networks in Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul and Sydney complement the Asia-Pacific footprint.
  • Many additional Data Centres & Retail Buildings across Europe will be reachable via the combined Colt network.
  • Intra-US services are currently excluded.

Bandwidth

The main services interfaces are listed below. Colt can now offer Fibre Channel services up to the 32Gb bandwidth level including those waves on the former Lumen EMEA network.

There are more interfaces and bandwidth levels supported on a solution basis - in case of any specific requirement, please contact your Colt account manager.
