Product portfolio optimisation

Round-images-W@T

1. Introduction

We’ve successfully completed the second phase of aligning the Lumen EMEA and Colt product and solution portfolios. This convergence brings you the best of both worlds, combining strengths from each portfolio to deliver a more streamlined experience.

In support of this effort, all Lumen EMEA IPVPN customers will transition to the Colt IPVPN product suite. The Lumen EMEA IPVPN products that will be transitioned are:

  • Legacy Blue IPVPN
  • Integrated IPVPN

Colt IP VPN product suite

Colt IP VPN is an IP-based virtual private network (VPN) service that provides customers with the security expected of a private network, while at the same time offering significant benefits of a shared network in terms of cost and optimal connectivity.

With one of the largest European fibre and DSL networks, Colt can deliver IPVPN directly to customer premises in all the major European cities and to locations around the world through partnership agreements. In many cases, customer service will be delivered end-to-end over our own network, always ensuring the highest quality and availability.

Any-to-any connectivity of sites regardless of their sizes, into a customer’s network can be achieved easily, efficiently and securely, whether these sites are located within a single country or at diverse locations around the world.

Class of Service (CoS) options ensure that customer traffic can be prioritised so that data streams with stringent requirements such as voice and video take precedence. In addition, remote access options give customers the flexibility to connect staff members who are on the move or working from home.

With Colt IPVPN, other than the remote access options that are delivered using secure tunnels over the public Internet, all sites are connected using a private network and do not traverse the public Internet.

With MPLS, customers benefit from traffic separation, a high level of security, quality of service (QoS) and scalability.

  • This gives customers the flexibility to optimize the design of their wide area network (WAN) in terms of cost effectiveness and to support new applications that require full mesh connectivity and are time-critical
  • The service is MPLS-Based and is a good solution for full mesh any-to-any connectivity, or, if required, partial mesh or star network topologies.

The Colt network is secure and reliable and provides unrivalled reach across 32 countries with fibre-based metropolitan area networks (MANs) in 51 major cities. We have more than 32,000 buildings are directly connected to this network.

Colt’s ability to provide end-to-end managed networks ensures that we can offer customers a high quality, cost-effective solution backed by comprehensive service level agreements (SLAs) and award-winning customer service.

What is different about the converged IP VPN product?

There are a couple of changes in the service features – the biggest one being the product name, billing options and feature naming differences.

IP VPN IPVPN Access
IPVPN + Managed Router IP VPN Plus
IP VPN + On Site Support IP VPN Access
Flat Rate Billing Flat Rate Billing
Commit + Burst Billing Flat Rate Billing
Usage Only Flat Rate Billing
Multi Service Port Site Based Integrated Internet Access (SIIA)

Will the commercial model change?

The most significant commercial changes to your services once they have been migrated are the naming format used in invoices and how commit plus burst or usage-only charges are invoiced for Lumen IPVPN services.

Changes to the naming conventions used on invoices are as follows:

  • The product name will change to either IPVPN Access or IPVPN Plus.

The converged IPVPN offers one billing option, namely flat rate. Therefore, all usage-based bandwidth services (Commit + Burst) or Usage only will be moved to a flat-rate model. In these instances, you will still be able to burst above your committed bandwidth, but for the duration of your existing contract term you will not be charged for excess usage/burst traffic.

Any services invoiced as a quarterly monthly recurring cost will be changed to monthly recurring cost.

There will be a single line item for each location, that will contain the monthly recurring cost.
