1. Introduction
As part of the integration of our business, we are working hard to align the Colt and Lumen EMEA product portfolio, to provide you with the best possible offering and streamlined service.
In support of this effort, we are launching the Colt Wave product. All Lumen EMEA Wave customers will transition on the Colt Wave.
The convergence of this product enhances the reliability, security and performance of your data transport services.
2. What does this mean for you?
What is different about the converged Wave product?
There is no significant change in service features – the biggest one being the product name.
Will the commercial model change with the product convergence?
There are no differences in the commercial model compared to Lumen EMEA. Your account team will remain available to support with any changes to your service that you are unable to manage through the self-serve functionality in the portals.
3. Product features & changes
Our converged wave service provides high-capacity data transport between two locations, whether on a metro, national, or international basis.
Our fully managed and integrated metropolitan and long-distance networks, built on fibre-optic infrastructure, ensures secure, high-bandwidth dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) connections across the network. The addition of the Lumen EMEA wave network has expanded into additional countries/markets and added diverse paths to existing routes.
Through a combination of our own optical infrastructure and leased wavelength capacity, we deliver reliable service for intercontinental and global locations in North America and the Asia Pacific region.
Additionally, the Colt Private Wave Service offers metropolitan area services using a dedicated WDM (Wave Division Multiplexing) platform, enabling the delivery of multiple services over a single fibre pair on customer-dedicated infrastructure.
4. Mapping to a converged product
The below provides guidance for the mapping of a Lumen Wavelength service into a Colt Wave service.
In Lumen EMEA, an encrypted wavelength was a standalone product. Encryption is a feature that can be associated to any Colt Wave or Colt Private Wave.

Geographic extensions
The geographic extensions are the same for the converged product as they were with Lumen EMEA:
- Metro - within same city or region / Wave or Private Wave
- National - within same country between different cities / typically Wave only
- International - across different countries or even continents / typically Wave only
Footprint
Colt offers Wave services across Europe, Asia-Pacific, including Subsea-routes to North America
- Lisbon, Porto, Rome and a few more across Europe
- Japan national network connecting Tokyo to Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and other major cities. Metro networks in Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul and Sydney complement the Asia-Pacific footprint.
- Many additional Data Centres & Retail Buildings across Europe will be reachable via the combined Colt network.
- Intra-US services are currently excluded.
Bandwidth
The main services interfaces are listed below. Colt can now offer Fibre Channel services up to the 32Gb bandwidth level including those waves on the former Lumen EMEA network.
There are more interfaces and bandwidth levels supported on a solution basis - in case of any specific requirement, please contact your Colt account manager.

Wave service monitoring
Proactive monitoring/notification was offered as an optional service to Lumen EMEA Wavelength customers. For customers who have this optional service, it will continue following your migration to the Colt converged wave service.
For newly delivered converged Wave products, proactive monitoring and notification is a feature that will be available as standard for all new wave services.
Encrypted wavelengths - encryption key management by customers
Encrypted wavelength Lumen EMEA customers had the ability to manage encryption keys through the Lumen EMEA Control Center Portal. Once your encrypted waves service has migrated to the Colt converged wave service access to control center will no longer be available. Management of the encryption keys will be done through vendor specific tools (ADVA/ADTRAN) and relevant documentation will be shared with the customers.
5. Additional resources
Colt Online is the self-service, one stop customer portal (Lumen EMEA Control Center equivalent) to manage your services once you have either purchased a converged product or have been fully migrated to the Colt systems.
